The Commissioning Circle

The Commissioning Institute

The Commissioning Institute is an independent training and networking centre designed to promote learning and the sharing of effective practices in the commissioning of health and social services. It has been established by Humana Europe, a provider of integrated commissioning services and support to NHS primary care trusts.

Goals

The principal goals of the Institute are to improve the level of commissioning skills, highlight and share knowledge of best practices and create a forum for ongoing learning about excellence in commissioning of health and social care services. The Institute will proactively build links with the clinical community and develop long-term relationships with those who provide day-to-day care for patients.

The Commissioning Institute seeks to develop a wider network of leaders for commissioning, bringing together clinical, managerial and public health professionals in partnership to ensure clinical input into the design of service delivery.

It is hoped that the Commissioning Institute will not only contribute to the expansion of commissioning skills but to an enlargement of concepts for commissioning, including ways to leverage commissioning to improve the quality of patient care.

Additional Programmes

An independent not-for-profit organisation with its own governance and technical advisory boards, the Commissioning Institute will oversee four work programmes in addition to the Commissioning Simulator:
